Pittsburgh Distributor of Industrial Parts Sued Thousands of Times
F.B.Wright, a distributor of industrial hoses and fittings in the Pittsburgh area, has been sued thousands of times since 1983 over products that contain asbestos. President Cathy Philistine said in one lawsuit they supplied 27 encapsulated gaskets to a company in Philadelphia and ended up paying out $450,000 rather than face a pay out of millions more ordered by a court. She said that in another instance they had to decline to sell any more products containing asbestos to a long-time customer, losing out in $300,000 worth of business.
“Once the plaintiff attorneys find you and find you have insurance your are on their computer,” she said.
CJR expects further developments on the F.B. Wright in the near future.
